Where To Turn?
For me, the most important lesson I have learned in observing and commenting on politics, religion, art, media, science and culture in the world around me, is to give no more credence to those who tell me what I want to hear, as I do to those who challenge my knowledge and thoughts on any given subject.
I follow and respect many, but I do not idolize any. A poet?
I am the most cautious with religious leaders, including those who have the same beliefs I do. Not everybody, even within the greater Christian community, imparts information from a trustworthy knowledge base, and not everybody is trustworthy in and of themselves.
The same of course can be true of politics (especially so), science (very much) and the arts, although the arts are more a matter of pure opinion and personal like and dislike.
Like anybody, I eventually I find those whom I feel I can trust. Just because somebody steered my right once, does not mean it will happen again.
In the end it is like attempting to piece together a jigsaw puzzle. It can be confusing. Sometimes you find a piece that you are sure is a perfect fit, but alas it is off just a little. It often feels like half the correct pieces are missing, but eventually they will begin to fit. Once piece at a time.
While those people who are good to learn from are sometimes famous, and on many occasions men or women of the cloth so to speak, it is not necessarily always the case. Laypeople can surprise you by their knowledge and goodness.
I trust once source above all others on all subjects. God Almighty is waiting for us to ask. We just need to be sincere, and patient. The answer is there.
He will answer our prayers, but that does not mean He is there follow instructions and do what we want. He will impart His Wisdom to us as it is needed.
